Am I doing the wrong thing to ignore my best friend?

Q: Ok so we have to do this project in one of my classes to create a society in a island. so we have to vote. I won the election to be the leader and then by Xbff starts whining that she didn't win and then they cave in and let her be the leader. Which i wasn't so upset until we spent 15 minutes going over the vice leader and leader will not take advantage that they get the final say and whatever. so after-words they want to have cool names for the island and so at first me and chelsea ( x-bff and leader) and a few other people say that it is stupid and we don't need to waist our time. but then the start saying you can't have fun so chelsea disagrees with me and says that i am being stupid for not thinking we don't need names. so of course since she is the leader everyone agrees with her and they spend the rest of the class period talking ( 25 min) giving eachother names that no one gets to choose excpet chelsea ( x- bff and leader) and i end up being la quesia. ( who the heck is that) And i am the person that has to do the work and get a good grade. and we only did one out of the 8 things we were supposed to do. I am soooo gonna fail . Now please tell me that i was either doing the right thing or if i was just not being a good friend. Then the next day she was still the leader and completely abusing her power and putting everyone down. She wouldn't listen to anyone and was really rude to me she acted like i had never been friends with her. she was like a different person and i really need some good advice so PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

A: Well, I think if the assignment is to create a society on an island there should be some sort of outline as to what the teacher is expecting from you guys as a group. Firstly the fact that everyone caved in & gave her her way is stupid, I mean she isn't a team player & obviously can't lead the group to accomplish anything. She's way immature downing everyone & calling you stupid. If this has been going on for more than two days I would consider going to the teacher with my concerns about my own grade in this. Explain that you don't feel it's right that the grade you receive is based solely on the team leader who won't allow you any input. Basically you are just sitting there waiting to fail as nothing is getting done to the teachers standards as you see it for a passing grade. Whatever you do, don't make your concerns be about her, make them about you. Maybe he can assign you to another group who wants to do well on this assignment. As for your friendship, who needs friends like that? She's like Dr. Jeckyll & Mr. Hyde... Sheesh! If it is savable, I'd never want to work with her again that's for sure. Sometimes people are totally different in a working relationship as opposed to a personal one. You learned something about her, work & play don't mix. Good luck
