Trying to get over him...?

Q: So I really like this guy. We're close friends, but I found out he has a girlfriend. It's like Taylor Swift's song "teardrops on my guitar." So bascially, how do I get over the fact that he has a girlfriend? It's so hard to see him now, I still want to be there for him. How can I still be friends with him but get over him at the same time?

A: well, you should try and convince yourself that as long as he's happy, you are too. If you really love him, you should do that for him. I have a friend that was in the same situation as you, except the guy she liked hated her. It took over a year for her to get over him, and there may be some side effects. You should realize that at least he doesn't hate you, and some people have it way harder than you do. i'm currently going through a VERY VERY similar situation as you too. I remain close friends with the guy, and i think that as long as i'm his friend, i'm happy for me, for him. It's good to have support from your friends, and it makes you feel better if you tell someone. I told my best friend, and she's supported me the whole way. Patience is a virtue, someone once said to me, and your right and perfect prince will come when the time comes. It's fine that you can still be there for him, just don't overdo it, or else you may not even be friends. However, be there for him as a friend, a close friend, and you'll find that pain, especially from love, will fade with time, but love, even if it's just from friends or family, will stay forever.
