Q: I don't really know him. Or at least i do but we don't go way back. We met in the local pub and we both shared the fact that we are part of the forces. Both Navy and Army, i would like some advice on what to say, i do have a few ideas relating to the stag weekend and how we both like to drink, you know the usual. But i am finding it difficult. Help would be great, what did you say... or any websites. Thankyou very much xxxxxxxxxx
A: I don't know this guy's name, so I'll just call him Jason. And the girl I will call Gina. Here's an idea for the speech.... "I'm not a great speaker, so I'll keep this short and sweet. I've known Jason for about a year now (or however long), and one thing I can say about him is that he's an honorable man. Not only has he served in the US Armed Forces, but he carries himself with dignity and integrity -- (pause and smirk) though he does like to get a little crazy sometimes when he drinks. (add a funny anecdote about the stag weekend). But if there's one thing that's for sure, Jason loves Gina with all of his heart, and it shows. When he talks about her, his whole face lights up. It reminds me of the way my grandfather used to talk about my grandma (or some other relationship that has lasted a while). Today Jason marries the woman he loves, and I am confident this is a marriage that will last a lifetime. I truly believe that he will show the same love, dedication and protection for his new wife as he has in serving his country for X years in the armed forces. It takes a great man to serve his country, and it takes a greater man to serve his wife. Jason Harrington is that man. Jason and Gina, I wish you both the best." ....then lift your glass and toast!
